POLYPROPYLENE FIBER

Polypropylene fiber is a type of material widely used in underground mining and tunnel construction to reinforce support systems and improve the overall stability of excavations. Made from synthetic polymers like polypropylene or polyethylene, this fiber is designed in the form of long, thin strands, which allows it to be easily incorporated into various construction materials. The key advantages of polypropylene fiber lie in its strength, durability, and resistance to environmental factors, making it an ideal choice for use in harsh underground conditions.

Polypropylene fiber is typically used as an additional reinforcement material in combination with other essential support systems such as concrete, shotcrete, and anchor bolts. When mixed with shotcrete or concrete, polypropylene fiber helps enhance the material’s structural integrity, providing increased resistance to cracking and improving the overall load-bearing capacity. This reinforcement is especially important in tunnels or mining projects where the rock conditions are unstable, and additional support is required to prevent collapse or deformation of the excavation.

The unique properties of polypropylene fiber also make it resistant to corrosion, which is an important factor in underground environments where high humidity and chemical exposure can cause degradation of materials like steel. Additionally, polypropylene fibers help to improve the flexibility and workability of the materials, making them easier to apply during the construction process.
